Marina Bay RV Resort Hosts First Annual Texas Prevost Rally
Prevost Annual Meeting and Rally draws 120 attendees and over $80M worth of flashy RVs

Kemah, TX, November 1, 2004:  If you happened down FM 2094 in Kemah last week, chances are you encountered a large, flashy, custom-painted chrome-trimmed… bus?  Thats right!  Custom paint jobs and extra chrome arent just for Harleys  as the folks at Marina Bay RV Resort can attest!  Marina Bay RV Resort played host to the Texas Prevost Annual Meeting and Rally from August 24-26.  A crowd of over 120 Texas Prevost Club members plus seven of the top ten Prevost converter-dealers were guests.

The Texas Prevost members visited NASA and Moody Gardens, ate at the Boardwalk, had T-Bone Toms cater a meeting at the Kemah Community Center, and took a Star Fleet dinner cruise.  While they were playing, the converter-dealers held open houses in the $1M - $1.9M demo rigs they drove to Kemah for the event.  Yes, those dollars are counted in millions.  Two of the dealers made a couple of sales while they were here - not bad for hanging out under a canopy enjoying our cool Gulf breezes!

Texas Prevost President Ken Urban and his wife Patty said they selected Marina Bay RV Resort from the over 50 choices in the Houston area because its new, its clean, it has lots of large, wide, pull-through pads that can accommodate the big rigs, and…not too many trees?  What do Prevost owners have against trees, anyway?  Seems they inhibit the maneuverability of their 45-foot rigs  plus tree sap wreaks havoc with those custom paint jobs.

What is a Prevost anyway?  Its basically a  $400K Greyhound bus “shell”, built by Volvo Cars in Canada.  The shell contains only the engine and a drivers seat plus a custom window configuration.  Then the converters get hold of them and customize them according to their customers taste, which is where the cost starts exceeding $1M.  The rigs are outfitted with a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and sitting area appointed with imported leather, custom wood veneers and cabinetry, granite counters, custom tile work, indirect lighting, multi-jet showers, and home theater systems complete with plasma TV.  Each one has a separate entertainment system outdoors and a complete outdoor kitchen with custom lawn furniture  all to be enjoyed beneath a canopy that retracts when the wind blows harder than 20 mph!

Marina Bay RV Resort is located at 925 Marina Bay Drive (FM 2094) in Kemah, TX.  They opened in March 2003 and are Woodalls 5-Star rated and a Good Sam Club.  Marina Bay offers 98 paved, well-lit full hookup pads, a swimming pool, picnic area, two laundry rooms and shower facilities, Internet access and a community room.  They can be reached at 281-334-9944.  Groups are always welcomed!
