What is ItemWizard?
QuickStart Tutorial
QuickStart Tutorial

Here's how it works Say we want to allow a user to add a gallery image to a website already created. In this case we want to put a link, which says "Add New Gallery Image" on the SAME page as the gallery page. (Note: It is not necessary for the ItemWizard script link to be on the same page as the one it is editing, but in this case we do this.) We also want to put a "Delete Old Image" on this page as well. In this way, we can have any user we designate, simply click the links to add and delete gallery images from this page.
Step 1 HemPC is launched and a new item is created at the top of a section. We'll title this new item "ItemWizard Stuff" and uncheck the checkbox so as to not display the title.

Step 2 Click on the ItemWizard plugin and launch ItemWizard. (If it's not yet loaded, you will be prompted to download it. After downloading, please click on the ItemWizard button to launch it). Once launched, it will ask "Do you want to check for new MagicItems at the Altuit library?" We recommend you check every week or so, just in case new ItemWizard Actions have been added. Typically you can press the "Don't Ask Again" button, so as to not be bothered anymore. This dialog will not be displayed anymore for the duration of your HemPC session. When HemPC quits and is restarted, this dialog will be displayed again.

Step 3 Let's choose the Action: "Add New Picture (medium, black outline)." This is a premade ItemWizard Action which allows submitters to add a Picture, with a title and description and a thumbnail of itself to a web.

Step 4 Once we highlight this Action, we then must press the Target Action button. In this way, we can tell Hemingway where we want this new Item placed. Select a Web, then a Section, and press Okay.

Step 5 Next, we provide the Link Text for this ItemWizard Action. In our case, we've already decided to call it "Add New Gallery Image." Note: you can also insert an image tag here as well. Be sure and have stored the image in the same web as the web you are currently working in so it will display properly. The image tag should be in the form:

<img src=myButton.jpg>

When finished, press the NEXT button.

Step 6 You may edit the default instructions for your ItemWizard users. Also, be sure to put YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS in the field provided, or else Altuit will receive the notifications from your users. If you want your users to view their submissions on the website (always a good idea), then check the "Build web after submit" checkbox.

Step 7 Review and Publish. Typically, there is nothing to do in this step but press the publish button. Now the newly generated ItemWizard script is placed at the end of the Item Description text field. Note the Use HTML checkbox is checked. Do not uncheck it, or the ItemWizard script will not work.

Step 8 Now, we want to add the "Delete Image" script. So, add "<br>" after the last script in the Item Description field. This puts the "Delete Image" link on the next line down from the "Add Gallery Image" link. Once again, press the ItemWizard button on the bottom of the HemPC item panel. This time, scroll to the bottom of the Actions list and choose "Delete Existing Item." Press the Target Action button and choose the same Web and Section as you did previously. Finish the settings and press publish.

Step 9 Don't forget and SUBMIT the item you have just made by pressing the white submit button in the upper right of the HemPC item panel.
Step 10 Before finishing, we need to create permissions for those individuals you want to access the ItemWizard links you just built. To do this, you need to go to the web where the items will be uploaded, and edit the Restricted Access list in the web settings area. This Restricted Access list also doubles as a permissions list for ItemWizard users. If the Restricted Access button is not checked, then anyone can view the web, but ONLY those in the Restricted Access list can edit the web using ItemWizard. You can of course put multiple individuals in this list.

Note: ItemWizard is setup to allow anyone in the Restricted Access list to Add or Replace items for a web, but they can ONLY Delete those Items they have Added.

Step 11 Build the web and view it. Now, click the links and try them out.
