The Steps
|
First we hardy cut our material using the same formula as before. Then we start bending the heated rod using the anvil horn and repeated hammer blows from the end on in.
After we get to the middle, we start from the other end. Once we are close to an appoximate round shape, we then use our tongs and place the ring on a Cone Mandrel. Using two hammers, we can shape the ring into perfect circlular concetric geometry.
Finally, place it on a flat surface (the cement floor) and finish it by hammering it flat and planar.

Connecting the Eye and the Ring
|
Bill uses a 'convenience bend' to connect the two together. The eye is heated and placed in a leg vise. It is then quickly twisted open, the ring inserted, and closed.
