Vision
“A Special Place for Special People”

Our vision in creating the Equine Angels Learning Academy is to provide a unique learning environment that meets the needs of a very special population. The aspiration is to one day, have a place where special needs children can go several days a week to receive all the services they need to enhance their quality of life. These services include:  a learning curriculum which is specific to each childs personal needs and abilities; physical, occupational, and speech therapy; adaptive physical education; nutrition and lifestyle education; the physical therapy specialties horseback and aquatic therapy; music therapy; massage therapy; and fine arts.

Unlike traditional learning settings, the Academy will provide services throughout the year, 46 weeks total. Each program participant will be able to come to the Academy 4 days a week to receive structured educational classes with a 2:1 student to teacher ratio, as well as quality therapy services with a 1:1 patient to therapist ratio. All services will be provided at the same location, with the exception of the horseback and aquatic therapies. Each day, all participants will receive a schedule of services specific to their unique needs consisting of appropriate individual and group learning sessions, and individual therapy sessions provided by licensed, credentialed teachers and therapists.

Our target population is the severely disabled child.  Working with children impacted by factors such as the inability to walk and/or talk is truly a specialty. Our experience with these children evidences an enormous unmet need within our society for services to enhance the lives of individuals, especially young children, who are severely disabled. Their mental capacity is often overlooked because of their physical disability, especially when they are non-verbal.

Over the past 6 years, the Equine Angels Special Therapy Center has been in operation to fulfill specific physical needs of this special population. Our feeling is the time has come to expand our services to incorporate the social and academic needs of these children.  The creation of Equine Angels Learning Academy combined with Equine Angels Special Therapy Center completes this vision.
