Purpose
Our purpose at Equine Angels Learning Academy is to provide a unique learning environment to children with severe disabilities by implementing an academic program that truly meets the needs of this very special population. We serve a small community of children with recognizable physical limitations that currently prohibit them from being able to ambulate independently. Also, many of our children are unable to communicate independently.
These special children are deserving of a quality education. However, given their physical limitations, it is difficult to find a learning environment that can and/or will accommodate their individual special needs. The true mental capacity of these children is often overlooked because of their physical disability, especially when they are non-verbal.
The Equine Angels target population is the severely disabled child. Working with children impacted by factors such as the inability to walk and/or talk is truly a specialty . . . it is OUR specialty. Our experience with these children over the past 6 years evidences an enormous unmet need within our society for both educational and therapy services to enhance the lives of these children.
Our program promises to administer high quality educational services utilizing licensed, credentialed special education teachers and administrators. Given the physical needs of these children, the educators will be working along side professional therapists in the same classroom to ensure proper use of seating, adaptive fine motor aids, and communication devices.
The best way to serve these children is to combine rather than separate the services they need on a daily and weekly basis. Equine Angels Learning Academy combined with Equine Angels Special Therapy Center meets this need. Our services include the following:
1) A learning curriculum specific to each childs needs & abilities.
2) Individual physical, occupational, & speech therapy each week.
3) Adaptive physical education.
4) Family nutrition & lifestyle education.
5) Group music & other fine arts education.
6) Physical therapy specialties, Horseback & Aquatic Therapy.
7) Family education, resource & support.
