What Are The Benefits of These Physical Therapy Specialties?
People who have debilitating physical disabilities rarely receive the amount of quality therapy needed during their lifetime for various reasons. Progress and healing are greatly dependent on continuity of good services, especially in children as they grow, and those with degenerative conditions.  Both specialties, Horseback Therapy and Aquatic Therapy, are great additions or alternatives to traditional Physical Therapy.

Persons with severe physical limitations have little access to a quality exercise program. Both horseback and aquatic activities involve all muscles in the body, including the heart and lungs, so a great cardiovascular workout can be achieved.  The result can be considerable changes in fitness and muscle tone within a few weeks.

The natural progression as a result of having limitations is a decrease of activity which, in turn, leads to muscle weakness and even more physical limitations. This cycle can be halted and reversed through participation in Horseback and Aquatic Therapy at Equine Angels. The therapy goals we value most highly and always strive to attain are:
.

.
1) Improved balance & coordination

2) Improved trunk strength & stability

3) Improved range of motion (flexibility)

4) Improved muscle tone

5) Improved circulatory & nervous systems

6) Improved endurance & fitness
